Learn how to grow and enjoy a cutting garden from local flower farmer Colleen Gilmore!

This workshop will cover the basics of how to grow and maintain a cutting garden in your own backyard or community garden plot to keep your home filled with blooms all summer long. We will cover everything including how to select the best location on your property, how to build a raised bed, how to prepare the soil, how to start seeds and grow our favorite, low maintenance annual cut flower varieties, and how to harvest and handle the flowers once they are blooming to ensure maximum vase life.

Colleen will share her favorite sources for seeds and supplies to get you started on your own cutting garden journey. Each participant will pot up seedlings to take home to transplant into their garden and will also take home seeds for some of our favorite cut flower varieties. This course will be great for beginners and for seasoned gardeners who may want some best practices and tips for a cutting garden versus display gardens.
